HOUSE 6 by Marcio Kogan – How to reinvent the veranda
House 6 is the response of Marcio Kogan, One of the architects of the emerging Brazil, a major request of the family ordered the service that required a covered outdoor space to use for daily life.
The knot was very difficult to disentangle the Brazilian architect because those spaces would be used to organize all social life of the house, but it must be said that the tropical climate of São Paulo has allowed many to choose home this architectural solution comfortable and beautiful. Linear space covered in front of the room and the bedrooms act as intermediaries between the interior and exterior.
What is remarkable about HOUSE 6 Marcio Kogan is that the awning has been reinvented: in this case is placed more in front of the residence, but is placed in longitudinal position, rather than perpendicular to it. The traditional wooden pillars were replaced by modern and piles of clay tiles from traditional flat sheets. However, the veranda of CASA6 remains an open space and, simultaneously, opens to the garden and swimming pool.
The whole house is then divided into two volumes and a cross added in the back that plays the role of the office. The lower part of the house, as usual, is reserved to the most “social” as the living room and kitchen while the volume is intended to contain the upper bedrooms.
