National Convention Centre in Qatar, Yamasaki Architects
Architecs Yamasaki designed by the National Convention Center in Qatar will be an unprecedented installation. First place winner of global green technology iconic design and facilities the QNCC is the first of its kind to be built with the gold certification of U.S. Green Building Council in command in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
The QNCC is located in Doha’s Education City and provide a place of choice for national and regional conventions, exhibitions, gala events, concerts, weddings and banquets.
The convention center design is centered on a steel replica of the Sidra tree, an icon in the history and culture of Qatar. The tree has strong roots cider, which allow you to thrive in the harsh desert climate. It is also symbolic of strength and growth, residents icon and emblem of the Qatar Foundation.
The QNCC offers an area of 177.000 m². Including 40, 000 square feet of exhibition space, conference rooms for 4,000 people, lyrical style Theatre 2, 300 seats, 3 additional auditoriums, 57 single rooms that can also communicate among themselves, Luxurious rooms, suites, business center and space for the media.
The center also will highlight energy-saving systems that include “led lighting” in the exhibition halls and a special wireless management provide free Internet access for delegates to reduce the use of paper. Among these are also included 177.000 m² 3600 m² of solar panels on the roof to provide up to 12.5 percent of the energy demands of the center.
