The architect Josep Llinàs signs the new Atlantis of Vic, a cultural complex dedicated to the performing arts whose spiraling forms and covers the complex are mixed urban fabric in which it sits. This new Performing Arts Center Osona has built over 10,000 square meters under which Ramon Montanyà live theater, auditorium Joaquim Maideu, College Conservatory of Music and Vic, and a restaurant.
In the words of the architect himself, “the structure of this imposing building is as interesting as its programming.” The new cultural facility is limited to the north by the backyards of the street Bisbe Torras i Bages, consisting of low houses between party, on the east, the old quarter of the tanneries, faced with the medieval walls of the Old Town and south the river Mederos. Their sinuous forms at a stroke solve this complicated piece of city. For example, much of the volume has been buried, this decision serves to align the height required by the building which can withstand the environment.
Llinàs has cast a giant faceted roof, finished in zinc, which starts at the level of the inner courtyards of the street block Torras i Bages, which aired some houses too small to accept a building so large next to her. The roof rises to the height of the stage (30 meters) to form the other side, a new facade to the river Meder, porous and porches. This gesture makes the back in a new urban front.
The facades are minimized and used to ventilate and illuminate those parts of the program that require it, as the School of Music or the restaurant. When they form the outer limit are finished in black stone. When they are formed by a cut between the various folds of the cover, more introverted and a height greater than the above (sometimes superimposed on a plane delayed by several meters) are finished in bright brass plate, gold.

One of the houses on the street Torras i Bages, called “Can Serrat”, former home of the School of Music, Vic, is now reused to house the common parts. This small late-modern building, designed by Manel Joaquim Raspall on the ground floor and two floors, gives the building a public indoor passage that connects the river with the city through it, which are structured around the program and giving urban sense.
