Rehabilitation Project Fundació Antoni Tàpies, by Abalos-Sentkiewicz

Last March, opened the refurbished Fundació Antoni Tàpies Barcelona, whose headquarters is located in the historical building of the modernist architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner. The rehabilitation project has been led by Iñaki Abalos of Abalos-Sentkiewicz Architects. Designed as a museum of new generation, the new Foundation is designed as a cultural center to raise more than 4,000 m2 as a multiple space adaptable to the diversity of artistic practices and focused on the pursuit of enhancing the visitor experience . Have been refurbished exhibition spaces to retrieve the original industrial character, and has become a reform of the entrance to the museum that has improved the reception areas and library. They also have recovered the old offices on the second floor as a public space that will improve the range of activities and museum services such as educational activities, the file space and new lines of programming. Reform has taken advantage of the historic building to bring the headquarters of the Foundation to safety regulations, adapt to the needs of disabled guests, and provide the space for more natural light. The original building of the Fundació Antoni Tàpies was designed by Lluis Domenech i Montaner and built between 1881 and 1884.
